Nintendo has seemingly managed to keep at bay, the issues surrounding Wii Availability. In Japan, the Wii had surpassed the number of Nintendo GameCube units sold by January 2008; the Wii has sold 6.67 million units as of September 1, 2008, according to Enterbrain. According to the NPD Group, the Wii surpassed the Xbox 360 to become the best-selling "next generation" home video game console in Canada with 813,000 units sold by April 1, 2008, and was the best-selling home console for 13 of the past 17 months; in the first six months of 2008, the Wii has sold 318,000 units in Canada, outselling its nearest competitor, the PlayStation 3, almost 2:1. According to the NPD Group, the Wii has sold a total of 1,060,000 units in Canada as of August 1, 2008, making it the first current generation home console to surpass the million unit mark in that country; in the first seven months of 2008, the Wii outsold the PS3 and the Xbox 360 combined with 376,000 units sold in Canada. In the United Kingdom, the Wii leads in current generation home console sales with 3.6 million units sold as of September 2008, according to GfK Chart-Track. Nintendo anticipates worldwide sales of the Wii to reach 50 million units by March 2009.

While Microsoft and Sony have experienced losses producing their consoles in the hopes of making a long-term proFit on software sales, Nintendo reportedly has optimized production costs to obtain a significant proFit margin with each Wii unit sold.According to the Financial Times, this direct proFit per Wii sold may vary from $13 in Japan to $49 in the United States and $79 in Europe. With a decent sale figure spanning over years, Wii availability is something which is not expected to threaten the market.

Cheaper Options 10/24/2008

With all the units gone, and the Nintendo storerooms seemingly empty, Wii Fit availability is becoming the tougher question. You have probably searched all over the internet and have found that almost every website either has the new Nintendo Wii Fit on back order or they do not have it in stock at all. With Christmas still far on the horizon, it is surprising to find all the consoles sold out.

While you may find used consoles, which could be bought for a much cheaper price, you may end up with a balance board that does not listen to you to and a slightly unruly console. Often prices on eBay are way above retail costs and sellers buy these products in large quantities so they can overcharge for them. Last Christmas the Nintendo Wii was going for twice its retail price on eBay because people just could not find it anywhere else. It would be best to buy the Wii Fit before it becomes almost impossible to obtain and beat that big rush. Such a severe clamp on Wii Fit availability may quite well be a marketing technique for the guys in the boardroom, but did our extra pounds know marketing, no.

At Nintendo’s Japanese press conference Nintendo announced a new name for Wii Points, Nintendo Points. This can be used only at DSi stores. The cards will be circulated in all DSi stores at Japan in November. Just FYI the card cannot be used on a Wii or a DSware, just one card and one console.

This means that you will not be able to transfer points from the new device to Wii. This also means you cannot use your spare Wii points from the Wii on your DSi. DSi games will cost 200, 500 or 800 for premium titles. So now, all those spare Wii points can be shifted to the junk yard.

Hero Rises 10/13/2008

Guitar Hero World Tour’s price has gone up to $240 bundle on Red Octane’s official site. This news wasn’t announced earlier by the company that they will be changing price for the game. Moreover there is no special bundle added to the game.

The bundle that is already added is a T-Shirt (Male XL only), battery charger, key chain and a guitar case. Generally the full band kit of the game on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii costs $190. This band kit does not include all the accessories which together round off to more than $240. Does adding $40 extra for a remote to a game sound feasible?

Atlus gave out a series of descriptions of some of the events that occur in the blank yellow space available in Dokapon Kingdom’s game board. Some videos that appeared on IGN showed various aspects of the game play, from combat to movement. They were also used for obtaining the money.

The combat is a standard RPG fare, with the menu items assigned on the D-pad. RPG is an appropriate party game; we can expect the combat to be simple and quick. Dokapon Kingdom is very colorful and often involves paying off various lowlifes and robot- lowlifes to mess with other players.
