For those of us who've played an actual guitar at some point in life, this should come as no surprise. Gibson, the legendary guitar manufacturer, is now going after Guitar Hero developer Activision for patent infringement. Apparently Gibson wants a piece of this billion-dollar Guitar Hero phenomenon.

Thing is, Gibson has been a partner of Activision's, licensing the shapes of its legendary guitars to the GH franchise as well as its name. Activision has fought back in court by asking the court to shut this suit down before it starts. Considering that Gibson owns the rights to a device that is a little similar to the GH guitar in description, both sides might be in for a long fight.
