When Rockstar Games handed over their new game, Manhunt 2, to the British Board of Film Classifications last year, no one could have seen this coming.  Sure, controversy is the norm with the developer of the Grand Theft Auto series, but many in the gaming industry were stunned when the original version was banned in Britain.  Recently, the BBFC has given in to appeals and cleared the way for the game's release, but the drama hasn't stopped there.

There's a growing number of voices calling for the BBFC to remove itself from the job of rating video games.  Some in the British media are complaining about the drawn-out appeals process Manhunt 2, which will be available for the Wii upon its release.  The issue now seems to be deciding what authority will replace the BBFC if its detractors have their way.
