Apple liked the concept when Nintendo’s Wiimote was introduced in the market and back in May, it made up its mind to come up with another Wiimote-like remote control but for the use of its own Apple TV. However, it was just a patent at that time. The patent is since November 2006 as one can't imagine what Apple would have this planned for.

The same patent is back again as Apple is back with an Apple Smart Remote complete with IR sensor and accelerometer action. We have to see if the Apple’s version of the Wiimote will be able to compete with Nintendo’s console.
